There is an improvement in schools due to the financial support that the sponsorship program provides through fees. This has enabled schools to meet most of their requirements. North Lake Academy in Wakiso has built a new block (building) for more classes and is planning to build dormitories for a boarding section. Skyview Junior School in Kampala is also doing well. This year it managed to paint it’s fence which gave it a better look. It has also employed more qualified teachers for better services. Nyakagando Primary in Masindi has acquired land for the school on which it has started constructing. Wanyange Primary School, Skyview Junior School and Northlake Academy have bought more furniture. So the children are no longer sitting in dust.

Teacher’s salaries have improved in all schools which has sustained and attracted more qualified teachers. The sponsorship program has brought to the teachers who are now willing to offer services. I also conducted a sensitization meeting in which I encouraged parents to value education and be supportive in educating their children and they shook their heads in agreement.

The uniforms, shoes and stockings given to children have not only made them look smarter but also improved their well being. This is because most of the children that are in Skyview , Wakiso and Wanyange are no longer bare foot and the problem of jiggers which they suffered from is no more.

The mattresses, blankets and bedsheets given out so far have improved the children’s health. Most children had skin rushes that were due to poor conditions that harbored bedbugs and other insects. Now these cases are reducing. In addition the clean drinking water and the free treatment like deworming have done much in Text Box: improving child health. These have made children contributing more regular at school. I believe that as more of these are given out, together with the mosquito nets that we are about to supply this term, Malaria and other minor diseases will reduce or even be there no more among our sponsored children.

The school heads and teachers are very appreciative and they say that without sponsorship their schools would not do as much.

Sponsored children are the happiest of all beneficiaries. They love their sponsors so much that whenever we conduct prayers you hear them praying for nothing else but their sponsors. They are very regular. They love school more than their homes. In the first week of their holiday I happened to meet three of the sponsored girls at church who said to me, ''We want to go back to school." I asked them why thy loved schooling, they said because they love to be at school where they are well fed, they missed their best friends, and the teachers who teach them new stuff everyday. This gave me a smile to know that they are interested in learning. Teachers say that most of sponsored children are very bright and this is encouraging. Thanks to all stake holders in DOVE Uganda Sponsorship Fund.
